White and Blue Porcelain Serie is inspired by the famous Chinese White and Blue porcelains made with the cobalt oxide pigment for the decoration (A very tricky technique is used since the 14th century). This serie is also inspired by the Japanese representation of water in the ukiyo-e of the 19th century (woodblock print technique and painting) such as the most popular Hokusai’s The Great Wave of Kanagawa (1831), seascapes, fishing sceneries, and the Hiroshige’s landscapes under the rain.
Walking on the beach, the waves flowing back and forth on the sand allow me see to see the sky by reflection on the water surface.
Almost blinded by the light on the peaceful water surface, I can meditate and observe warm undertones beyond the reflections
Almost blinded by the reflection of the light on the water surface I can see yellow on the horizon
Ocean of Golden Ripples depicts the spiritual nature of water. Green-blueish tones evoke the transparency and the depth of the ocean, awakening the emotions of the viewers. They are combined with a network of connected golden lines, emphasizing the hypnotizing effect of the continuously moving ocean surface, touched by the sun. Through this evocation and use of the properties of water the artist calls on our conscience about the indispensable need of water for life.
